How to Conquer Social Anxiety

"If you are going to buy only one book on social anxiety, this is it. This book that not only compassionately presents various perspectives on social anxiety, but it also offers a vast array of solutions. It turned out to be more of a "self help" book than I expected in more areas than just shyness. The author had experience in social anxiety, so he really hit home with things he expressed. I was able to finally overcome my social anxiety thanks to this book!"

Seek professional help

I just wanted to say that this is a personal blog. Its not a medical advice blog or anything like that. Everything you will read here relates to my unique situation. These are my thoughts, theories and coping techniques - and as no two people are alike, may not apply to you and your situation. Im not qualified to hand out any advice in the area of mental health - I chop vegetables for a living for gods sake.

However, I do consider my lifetime of suffering to have some merit - the school of hard knocks, so to speak. If anything, Ive become very intimate with SA - as only one who suffers first hand can. My thoughts and insight would not be possible if I had not experienced this personally. So, if you find any value in the content here, or can relate or find comfort, then thats terrific.

One thing I would suggest to anyone intent on beating this thing, is to seek professional help. I wish I had done so years ago. I spent most of my time reading about SA and, while valuable, there is nothing like a qualified professional to help you get started.

Anxiety and depression are serious medical conditions. Always seek professional help as a first step. Get a referral from your family doctor and youre on your way. You can do this.

Wishing you success and happiness.
